Google Ready to Bid on 700 MHz

August 22, 2007

Nate Anderson writes,

For the last few weeks, Google has been pondering its response to the FCC’s 700MHz auction rules. Would it bid on the spectrum or wouldn’t it? Last night, CEO Eric Schmidt appeared to indicate that the company was leaning toward a bid, a decision that is no doubt giving the incumbent telcos night sweats.

Tubes, what next?

August 20, 2007

Tubes is the newest Web 2.0 product.

It’s a new way for sharing and synchronizing files through out a number of desktops and users simultaneously using what they call iTube.

Here is some of the description from there web site:

We didn’t stop after we made sharing anything impossibly easy. Impossibly, we made it even easier. Just drag & drop your stuff to a tube on your desktop and it is instantly assembled into your very own website, what we call a tubeSite. That’s right, now you can share anything with anyone on the web — every tubeSite gets its own URL. You can even provide guest URL access to any file inside any tube on your hard drive. And unlike mere websites, when you change anything — right on your desktop — your tubesite changes automatically. This also means your family, your students or your colleagues can edit your website.

And in case you are wondering about the name it comes from the pneumatic tube that banks use.

a Tube Account by Size
Free 1 GB
Premium 5 GB $5.95/month
Premium 10 GB $10.95/month
Premium 20 GB $20.95/month

How to Start a Blog?

August 18, 2007

A lot of people including me is wondering of how to start a blog and what or how to write blog posts?.

After a little search i ended up with these great blogs :
1- Working Smart: How to Start a Blog
I founded this blog to be the most useful, it was written in a clear language and had very good advices starting from deciding the theme and choosing the right service for you, and ending with how to publicize your blog.

2- Simon World: Everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask about Blogging
Its got some great advice on blogging for anyone starting out….or continuing in blogging.

3- Phil Windley’s Technometria: How to Start a Blog
It’s also a great site with some great and original advices, specially the last 2 steps (11-12).

After reading those blogs I think that the most important advices of how to start a blog is:
1- choose a good service. if your are good at blogging then switch to fee-based services.
2- choose a theme and stick with it but occasionally deviate from it. (i am still with out a theme).
3- update regularly.
4- comment on others blogs and but a lot of links to others blogs in your posts.

i think those are the most important, if i am wrong please correct me.
